How I Got the Book: Review Copy

Summary of the Book:

I fell in love by accident.

I barely knew Julius Samson.
He was the king of the school. I was the queen of the nerds.
We were star-crossed from the beginning.
Still, he held my hand.
Took me in.
Made me feel safe.
He became my sanctuary.
I never wanted to leave his side.
If I could’ve stayed forever, I would have.
But we could never be.
Because my future depended on ruining his.

Inspired by Megera (Meg) from the story of Hercules, The Golden Boy is a poignant, emotional, young adult contemporary romance about a teen girl’s hard choices, loss, and love.

My Personal Review: I received a copy of this book for a fair and honest review. This fairytale retelling is based on Megera from Hercules. It gets a bit intense at times and the pain that Meg goes through with her family, school, love, promises, and her morals. It touches on a lot of young adult issues that should be addressed. All she wants to do is stay in school and she is given away it is not just the best thing to do to another person. Will she carry out the plan or risk losing everything she holds dear?

My Rating of the Book: 4 1/2 Stars
