Summary of the Book:

Aaliyah Shaw applied for and received a spot to attend a prestigious school for the arts for her senior year, all expenses paid. She is excited to start living her life the way she believes all other people her age do. But her dreams of freedom and new adventures are quickly doused when Aaliyah finds out she is not exactly welcomed by the vast majority of the student body.

With his popularity and status in the school taking a big hit because of Aaliyah, the big-man-on-campus, Chase Sophos, makes it his goal to take her down at every turn. Her situation quickly grows even more problematic when she catches the eye of another young man, Spencer Caprio, with many issues of his own.

Her new world is turned completely upside down as she tries to make sense of all the things happening around her. She learns fast that being smart is not the same as knowing everything. Her academic career, her innocence and her life are threatened as Aaliyah makes her way through the day to day reality of being “accepted” at Halstead Prep. Be careful what you wish for because you just might get it!

My Personal Review: I received a copy of this book for a fair and honest review. I was unsure about reading this book. I had heard so much about it and others talking about I was worried that it had been spoiled for me. There were some parts that were and I had heard a lot about the characters and who were people’s favorites. I am not sure about Spencer or Chase. I am not sure I liked either of them. As for Aaliyah she goes through a lot in this book.  When I finally got my hands on it I had ready several books that sounded just like this. There are several topics in this book that needed to spoken about more.  My feelings are kind of mixed for Shattered. Aphrodite Lee has a way of weaving a story together.

My Rating of the Book: 4 Stars
